Inspired through their work across many sectors of both mainstream and alternative education for the last few years, The Next Term is the brainchild of artists & educators Sophie Mahon, Jess Loveday & Joanna Roy.

Sophie Mahon is a socially engaged artist, who combines film, sculpture and digital experimentation to create installations and public artworks. Her works are often interactive, participatory and shown in the public realm. Based in Manchester Sophie has worked across the UK with various groups and communities as well as with organisations including the Whitworth, Tate Modern and Grundy Art Gallery. Other recent projects include an Artist residency with The Heart of Glass, St Helens, collaborations with Take Back Theatre and a permanent large-scale sculpture created with communities from South Manchester.

Jessica Loveday is visual artist, producer & creative facilitator. She has delivered many projects since graduating in 2013 including visual art, site-specific theatre and youth work. In 2015 she also devised and delivered her own project in Manchester which focused on facilitating an arts programme for people with mental health conditions which included workshops, exhibitions and one-to-one support.

Joanna Roy is a graphic designer, artist, creative producer and associate lecturer at Manchester School of Art. She is passionate about art and design outside of the traditional gallery setting and bringing work to unexpected places in the public realm. Her design work focuses on socially engaged design and how design can be used as a vehicle for social change. She has worked on the production of large-scale creative events in locations across the UK including London, Cumbria and her home city of Manchester.
